Leopardi’s Celebrations

Location: Villa Ginestre - Via Villa delle Ginestre, 19 - 80059 Torre del Greco (NA)

On the 221nd anniversary of the birth of Giacomo Leopardi on Saturday 29 and on the morning of Sunday 30 June, the Ente Ville Vesuviane Foundation will promote the fourteenth edition of Leopardian Celebrations.

There will be two days of events between memories of the poet and moments of entertainment, scheduled in the Villa delle Ginestre, in Herculaneum, where the Recanatese lived and composed La ginestra and Il tramonto della luna.

The event will offer a meeting on Saturday at 7pm on the opera Infinity, in the bicentennial year of its composition, with one of the most prominent Italian poets, Davide Rondoni. At 9pm, in the villa’s theater, the Parthenoplay concert will follow, Neapolitan classics in jazz and South American style with the sunny voice of Marina Bruno, Javier Girotto’s sax and an ensemble of excellent musicians composed by Gianfranco Campagnoli (trumpet and flugelhorn) , Pasquale Bardaro (vibraphone and percussion), Peppe La Pusata (drums), Giuseppe Di Capua (piano) and Tommaso Scannapieco (double bass).

The program also includes two moments of gastronomy … poetic: Saturday 29 at 11.30am on the “revolutionary” chef of Leopardi, Pasquale Ignarra, told by Antonello Aprea, and on Sunday 30 at the same time with Massimo Ricciardi on over two hundred Neapolitan dishes loved by the poet. Chef Ciro De Palma will lead the public in Leopardian tastings.
